Author Wendy Horwitz will discuss her new book Milkweed and Honey Cake: A Memoir in Ritual Moments.
With observations from nature, religion, and literature, Ms. Horwitz tells stories in the book about celebration, loss, change, and the best way to open a pomegranate. Lyrical and funny, thought-provoking and deeply moving, Milkweed and Honey Cake is at once a meditation on our desire for meaning and the story of one woman’s lifelong efforts to create it. Originally trained as a pediatric psychologist, Dr. Horwitz lives in Philadelphia, where she teaches writing and health humanities.
Friederike Baer, Division Head for Arts and Humanities and professor of history, will moderate the discussion. It will be followed by a light reception and book signing. Capricorn Books of Jenkintown will have copies of the book available for purchase.
This is the second in the series Conversations in the Humanities featuring Penn State Abington faculty and invited authors and scholars.
